The older iris hold much beauty as well as history in the development of today’s iris.  They are a treasure deserving of preservation.

The February program is will be a presentation created by Dennis Tieden of the Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS). HIPS is a non-profit section of AIS. The AIS is concerned about the modern cultivars where as HIPS’ main goal is the older cultivars that are disappearing at an alarming rate.  HIPS has branches/members all over the world. Irises become historic when they are 30 years old from their date of introduction.

Come find out about this important project and what you can do to keep these older cultivars around for generations to come.
