Louisiana Iris

Date: March 20, 2022 3:00 PM
Location:

Holy Cross Lutheran Church

11425 Marsh Lane

Dallas Texas

Ron Killingsworth, Hybridizer and grower of Louisiana iris will tell us all about the plant often unflatteringly referred to as the Swamp Iris or Ditch Lily.
This member of the iris family grows quite well in most parts of Texas.  It can grow around stock ponds and lakes or rivers; anywhere there is sufficient water. IN fact it can grow submerged in water, making it a great plant for a Koi pond or other landscape pond.

This is the only show ISD will have this year.

Entries accepted from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Judging is from 10:00 am until Noon and only official show personnel are allowed in the show area during that time.

This show will feature all irises blooming at the time.  Because it is early, many will be the shorter and smaller Dwarf and Median beaded irises.  There may be a few arilbreds, also.

More info after our show schedule has been approved by the American Iris Society.

Entry is open to anyone who grows irises. You DO NOT need to be a club member to enter.
The person entering must be the person who grew, transported and groomed the iris.

If you have never entered an iris show before and would like to do so, cut the stalk about 1 inch above the rhizome and bring it in... there will be folks who can show you what to do next, but get there by 9:00 AM so you have time to do all the prep.  YOU MUST KNOW THE REGISTERED NAME OF THE CULTIVAR TO ENTER,
