THIS IS A SATURDAY and
A WEEK EARLIER THAN USUAL
Guest speaker – Bob Van Liere
“WHAT’S MY LINE!”
We will have a special guest presentation by hybridizer Bob Van Liere! Iris Bob, as he is known by, is the owner of Iris4U Gardens. Bob has been growing Tall Bearded Iris since the late 1980’s and began hybridizing in 1998. His first introductions came in 2005. Since then. he has registered and introduced almost 100 irises, all Tall Bearded except for two Border Bearded. He grows his iris on 2.5 acres in Denver Colorado, half of which is seedlings and half named varieties. Over an acre of seedlings! He has grown out more than 100,000 seedlings since 1998, so doing the math, that is a .001% introduction to seedling ratio. Lots of culls for the compost heap!
This will be a hybrid meeting beginning at 1:00 PM – it will be a ZOOMcast for those who don’t wish to leave their home, and a live meeting for those who wish to meet Bob in person. There are only 20 available in-person seats, so if you want to attend in person, call or text your name and 'Van Liere at Fellowship Hall' to Kelly Patterson at 214-796-4303 to reserve a spot.
In the event that you have NOT yet joined in the Zoom fun, here is a short tutorial that will answer your questions and walk you through the fairly simple process . Watch it, prepare your computer at least a day ahead, and it should go off without a hitch.
